compatibility help

i was just wondering if anybody could help me with a compatibility issue im having on my hp netbook running windows7 starter. I was trying to open a program for a class on my netbook and the program won't start. I don't receive any error messsages the cursors just shows loading but nothing ever comes. it has worked on computers running on xp but it seems theres just some issue with windows 7.

have you tried compatibility mode? right click, troubleshoot compatibility, (may have to run as administrator too)
