I've got a compatibility issue with the Verisoft Access Manager - AsGHost.exe
And the cool feature of windows 7 ultimate to troubleshoot the compatibility issues ain't working. Tried every possible option but still says can't run. Does anybody have the same problem or know how to solve it. Very interesting I set the program to run with compatibility of windows vista where the program works, and it doesn't seems to make any change. Feels like a useless option.

Solution Found!!

Greetings,

I've found a solution for this annoying problem!! :) Honestly i was dissapointed at Microsoft since the software worked fine in the RC build and now works fine in the RTM after patching the compatibility database.

You need to download and extract the zip file. Run "install.cmd" as administrator. Restart your pc and reinstall the application, it should pass the compatibility check! If it doesn't work, contact me i have another solution ;)

Could you please navigate to C:\Windows\AppPatch\custom and see if you find the file "{78ba400b-d3ac-4e42-81f9-f81cae54082b}.sdb" is there?

Edit:
I've tested runing the install.cmd file as Administrator but it doesn't copy the "{78ba400b-d3ac-4e42-81f9-f81cae54082b}.sdb" file! It says access denied!! However, there are two ways to do it:
1. Manualy copy this file to C:\Windows\AppPatch\custom
2. Goto Start menu -> All Programs -> Accessories the right click "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator". I hope you know some DOS commands here :) cause you need to navigate to where you put the Win7patch folder and run the "install.cmd" file. The easiest way to do it is:
a. Copy the Win7patch folder to the root of a HDD partition, Ex: D:
b. Inside the command prompt type "D:" (without the quots) then press enter. After that, type "cd win7patch" the press enter. Later type "install.cmd"

it should work fine :)

I've found the origin of the problem. Error in the script when run as administrator :$ directly from windows.

Ignore my last post and copy the uploaded file "install.cmd" and replace it in the WIn7patch folder then run it as administrator.

Ok, that's weird :s

Here's another mehod:
Download and install the Application compatibility toolkit : http://download.microsoft.com/downl...785A229/Application Compatibility Toolkit.msi

Install it and download the attached file "asghost.zip".

Extract it and goto start menu -> All programs -> "Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit" and run "compatibility administrator" as administrator.

In the File menu, click Install and select the file "asghost.sdb" extracted from the zip file.

It should work now ;)

Still not working

First of all Hello and thank you for your ideas so far.

I am also faced with the problem that I cannot complete the installation due to the asghost.exe beeing blocked.
I tried your suggestions so far but sadly could install it yet. But maybe I am doing something wrong with the "Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit". Everytime I restart it, the opened, then installed and finally saved asghost file is gone. I do start the Toolkit as administrator btw.
Any more ideas or maybe a hint what I am doing wrong?

Thanks a lot.

Guys, i don't know what you're doing wrong. I'm surprised since both methods work for me.

I have a hard solution that i've first used and worked for me. Our application worked fine in Windows 7 RC, so i sought to replace the compatibility database of the RTM with the RC one.

The difficulty of doing this depends on you :)
First, do you know how to take ownership of files? If yes good you can pass, if not, you need to try the second solution.

Here's how:
1 - Solution: Inside windows (setting ownership)
* From the downloaded file, run "Explore.cmd". It will open two explorer windows with two paths "Windows\Appatch" and "Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-a..ence-mitigations-c1_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_726bd423405e346f"

* You need to take ownership and grant full access to "System" and "Administrators" account. To do this, right click the file and goto "Properties" under the "Security" tab click "Advanced" then select "Owner" Tab. click on "Edit" and change to your user name. Click apply then Ok.

* At this stage, you're back at the file properties. under Groups and User names, click "Edit". There, set full permissions to System and Administrators and your User name.

* Apply and Exit
* Now copy and replace "sysmain.sdb"
* Repeat the above steps for the second file location.

2- Method two:
* Put the extracted sysmain.zip folder on your root drive, ex 'C:' or 'D:'
* Insert you Win 7 DVD, restart and chose to boot from DVD
* Once booted, click "Repair Windows" and after that select "Command Prompt"
* From there, navigate to the sysmain folder (ex: type D: , then cd "sysmain")
* run installSM.cmd
* See if it will say files copied.

Restart and now it should work!!

The method 2 didn't work, about method one, there is no -
"Windows\winsxs\wow64_microsoft-windows-a..ence-mitigations-c1_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_726bd423405e346f"
Folder on my PC. I'm running 32 bit version maybe it has something to do with that?

Ok it's a miracle I've replaces sysmain in "Windows\Appatch" and the compatibility issue is gone.

Thank you very much! Hope Microsoft will soon make this and automatic fix in their database.

It's good that it worked this time ;)

It works for me too, thanks a lot Adonix! :D

I started up with a Win7 DVD, went to the repair / command prompt and copied the new sysmain.sdb to windows\appatch and to windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-a..ence-mitigations-c1_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_0bf88e4d53a0013e

Then the verisoft installation passed the compatibility, but the next problem popped up: it refused to register three DLL's, probably a security problem. I didn't succeed to solve this (I tried with SubInACL). Finally I reinstalled Win 7 and the first thing I did was to apply the sysmain.sdb patch and install verisoft. :D

For me it doesn't work. When I try to replace the sysmain.sdb file it says I don't have permission to perform this action even though I have done exactly what you said I should do. I right-clicked on the AppPatch folder did everything you said. What do I do wrong? Please help

Robin8, if it doesn't work, do like I did, start up with a Win 7 DVD and try to get the command prompt like explained. Then you can copy the sysmain.sdb file manually, without issues.

Hi,

First thanks, I successfully installed "Asus Security Protect Manager" (which use the Verisoft asghost.exe) by coping the "sysmain.sdb" file as explained in post number 10 (previous solutions didn't work)

But I still have a problem, maybe someone found a solution :
- When I install the "Asus SPM" alone : no problem (include drivers of fingerprint and software)
- When I install driver of the Infineon TPM alone : no problem
- But when I install both, I can't log-on my computer (with finger print or password, the cursor start rotate and ... nothing !)

I've this problem only with the RTM, I use the RC since some months without any trouble ! Asus SPM is configured to use the TPM (and I'd like it do it). I didn't try yet to not use the TPM (I've to complete re-install seven between 2 tests -_-), but I hope someone had the same problem and found a solution (I installed seven around 10 times in 2 days ... quite boring !)
