I want to install the Windows 7 RC, but upon scanning my system everything was compatible except this: "Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller - Not Compatible". How can I fix this in a Gateway laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GHZ, 2GB Ram? Thanks!

I have a Gateway FX 7026 desktop and the compatibility check told me the same thing, but once loaded up there was no problem. Now, if after setting up 7 you still have the same problem then attempt to fix it by using the drivers disk that came with the laptop. Then attempt to install the Vista driver. If that doesn't work check with the Gateway web site to see if they have come up with drivers for your specific laptop.

Last but not least if you can setup the laptop to dual boot until the drivers are available for your laptop. :)

Thank you Lee. I held off upgrading to Vista because of all of the negative press, but I have considered Windows 7, and have actually downloaded the RC version, although I have not installed it yet.

Win 7 is an outstanding O/S with just about everything you would want in an O/S. If you are running XP you can still dual boot. If you are able to do so ensure XP is loaded first, then 7. With the dual processor you will find that 7 will run much smoother than XP. :D

Lee,

So... if I dual boot, does that mean that XP will also be running in the background? And to Ken, thanks for your reply. I am actually running XP Pro Media Edition, so I am not sure if that driver will help me.

No, dual booting doesn't mean the other OS is running in the background, it simply means having two OS's installed on the same computer, and you choose which one you boot into when you turn on the computer. Only one OS is used at a time.
