Compatibility Mode Problem

Hello,

Have downloaded a quite old program that was originally written for W95.

Tried running it in compatibility mode, and even though one of the choices is supposedly compatibility for W95, it won't.

Shouldn't it ?

Any other suggestions for running it in W7, or just probably too old ?

Some of the err msg was:
this version of the file is not compatible with the version of windows you are running...
...whether you need an x86 (32 bit vers)...

What program is it? What version of Windows 7 are you running (32-bit or 64-bit)? Additionally, do you know if it is a 16-bit program? The reason I ask is because of the nature of the error message, which is usually received when someone attempts to run a 16-bit program under 64-bit Windows, which simply will not work. You can verify this by going to the Start Menu and right-clicking on "Computer" then clicking on "Properties" and you will find if it is 32-bit or 64-bit.

Any way to have it run this program (only ?) as 32 bit without messing everything else up ?

If it's a 16-bit program, then there is simply no way to accomplish it within a 64-bit Windows OS. You would have to run XP Mode or some other virtual instance of a 32-bit Windows OS to be able to run this program or a 32-bit version of Windows 7.

If it's a 32-bit program (doesn't seem like it) and doesn't have a 64-bit version, generally it would run and if not, it would get a different type of error than what you're experiencing. Is this a common old program? What program is it?
