Hello, Here is the scenario... I installed itunes on my new dell windows 7 laptop. It was unable to detect my iphone. I read somewhere that running it in windows xp compatibility mode might help. So I right clicked the itunes icon and ran it in compatibility mode. That did not work. I uninstalled and then reinstalled a fresh copy. I think the problem is that I did not turn off the compatibility mode before uninstalling and windows 7 has it cached somewhere. I still get "This program is running in compatibility mode ..." dialog when I double click on the newly installed itunes. Furthermore, I changed the user account to "standard" and now I have to enter the administrator username and password everytime I start itunes. How do I resolve this issue? Is this a permissions issue? I will try giving the user account full permission on itunes.exe today evening and see if that helps. Any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot !

Hi Khalsa,

Sometimes when an iPod or iPhone isn't fully charged, it will not be detected by windows on the first install. You will need to leave it plugged in for a bit to get a charge and then Windows will install a driver for it then.

Try that and see if it works.
