compatibility problem with nfs

I have old game Need For Speed II SE and was able to play it with XP installed. However on Windows 7 it won't work, even with the compatibility settings used. The games start screen and the setup options loads correctly, but when the actual game starts the graphics are completely corrupted, apperaing in lots of strange colors. Can this be helped?

Tried setting the compatibility lower than "Windows XP SP2"? That's 50/50 if you want to run such game because it is older than me.

Have you tried installing the game in Windows 98 mode?

That or make a windows virtual PC to play those very old games.
