I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-220 which has a 500GB Toshiba MK5065GSXN HDD, and I am in need of a replacement but don't know which hard drives would make a suitable replacement. I have had good experiences with western digital drives in the past so if possible do they do any compatible hard drives for my laptop? The size of the hard drive doesn't really matter other than being bigger than 100GB. Please help.

You should have no trouble putting any 2.5" drive in place of the old one. As long as both drives are SATA you should be good to go.

I would try to get a 7200 RPM SATA drive if possible, considerable speed increase for you.
As long as you use a laptop cooler with it, if it's generating more heat, which most use one anyway already.

Example of one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834989181

SATA is a standard for various storage devices, 2.5" is the laptop drive actual size standard, that's all you need to care about for the basics when shopping for one, unless there is some weird proprietary other hardware requirement, but not likely. (Xbox has one)

In your case, I would consider replacing it with an SSD, also. [speedy]
