Compatible AV Identity Software with Malwarebytes

Hey all.

With identity theft on the rise, I tried Bitdefender Internet Security, which was #1 rated in every independent review I could find, and I kept getting the dreaded 'blue' screen.

I'm wanting to get a security suite that will also give me some identity protection AND that will run with Malwarebytes.

I'm seeing Kapersky, Trend, Avast, and Vipre? a lot in the reviews.

Anyone running any of those or other suites with Malwarebytes?

I used to run MalwareBytes with KIS2016, then I removed MBAM for performance reasons seeing it did not really change much besides blocking "malicious" IPs here and there. Once you use KIS2016, you will realize there's practically no need for MBAM.

BitDefender didn't work for you? That's tragic. The next up the line would be KIS2016, or AVAST. AVAST has a "Secure Line" VPN feature which protects your IP address from visiting websites, and all websites have access to that.

KIS2016 does work with MBAM perfectly if you're wondering.

Hi:

BSOD are often caused by: hardware problems, driver issues/conflicts or even malware (rootkits).

Each computer is unique and there is no way to predict with certainty how any particular software combination will perform on any given system.

However, MBAM Premium is designed to run alongside all of the major popular AVs, to provide complementary, layered protection against certain zero-hour and zero-day, non-viral malware threats often missed by the regular AVs.
(I have run MBAM Pro/Premium and Kaspersky for many years under Vista and 7 on multiple systems.)
But there is no one "best" AV that suits all computers, all users and all budgets.

So, if you have been trying different AVs, the first general recommendation would be to make sure that you cleanly remove all traces of "old" AVs, using the software vendor's removal tool, if it is available.
Leftover drivers/remnants can certainly cause BSOD and other performance problems.
There should be ONLY one AV installed on the system.

Then, if you already have MBAM Premium installed, it's often a good idea to minimize problems -- though not always strictly necessary -- to temporarily uninstall MBAM before installing/activating/configuring your chosen AV. Then reinstall MBAM.

Having said all that, no one security suite or set of programs can protect 100% of computers 100% of the time from 100% of malware. As has often been said: the most critical security component is the one between the chair and the keyboard.

I got 3 PC option with Bitdefender, so I'm trying it on the new Dell laptop I got, so far so good. Also, until I do some research, I put AVG free on my wife's desktop with MB.

Going to look at AVAST and Kaspersky.

AVG is attempting to move to cloud protection which I find it makes your PC vulnerable considering that it's more reliant on internet connection, unless you are using a hard wired connection.

Even still, dangerous.

I would advise Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 for I.D. protection or ESET Smart Security series.

Either one of these should work just fine.
