Compatible RAM?

I've been looking into building a new rig for some time now. I recently came across an old Antec 300 case lying about abandoned where I work so that will be rescued But I have been looking at the following mobo

Asus M4A87TD Evo AMD 870
and
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-164-OCOCZ Reaper 4GB DDR3 PC3-14400C7 1800MHz Dual Channel

Apparently the motherboard supports
4x DDR3 DIMM 2000(OC) / 1333 / 1066 MHz (Max. 16GB) / Dual Channel
There's no 1800MHz stated, does this mean the RAM won't work (or will work but limited usage)
I'm a noob when it comes to choosing hardware for a rig

Motherboard/RAM combinations can be so cranky and finicky that I'd stick to the letter of the ASUS requirements for RAM. I'd avoid 1800. Why take the chance?

Good point Okay thanks - just a shame, not bad ram for about £75 Thanks anyways, will see what else I can pick up

Just an opinion, but in my experience with OCZ, unless the Reaper memory is on sale, it really isn't worth the extra money. They build really good stuff, and some of the cheaper RAM, like the Platinum series, will perform pretty much the same for less. Unless you're going for an extreme OC...

If you're looking for some standout performance RAM, take a look at Mushkin. They are absolutely insane.

I'm running OCZ1066Fata1ty but on my next build +1 on the Mushkin fell in love with their ddr500 redlines when I was into overclocking. Great support too. pricey though. Might want to look into some less expensive OCZ or Corsair. ONly 3 brands I've ever used and have never had any problems, but as stated above check if avalible your boards suggested ram. Fabe
