Okay im not sure what is going on but I am getting a stop 0x0000007b BSOD and when I go into my windows 7 installation CD to a command prompt it says under bootrec /scanos that my total windows installations are 0.

I have tried looking up people that have similar problems but I can't get anywhere following what happened to them.

I have windows 7 ultimate X86 retail

age of system and installation >1yr

Yes I know this. Also my windows 7 repair CD recognizes that I have a windows 7 installation but my bootrec says I have 0 windows installations.

I am running those tests now and will update when I am finished.

memory and HD passed inspection. malware i couldnt do because they were WEB tools and I can't get into windows.

If anyone else can help me please let me know. This probably has something to do with the boot.

I already did startup repair with my windows 7 install disc. It said it couldn't fix the problem. I think I need to rebuild the bootrec or something but when I typed that option into the command prompt it says it does not recognize any installations of windows even though my install disc does.

It may be time for a re-install of the OS at this point...

if I could get a reason WHY i need to do that then I would. from what I can see it is some error in the boot sector that is not recognising windows. I have seen people re-write it and get things working but I dont know how.

Personally, after what you have already tried, with our best expert in BSOD analysis, I would be more interested in a stable, working OS.. A clean format/installation would be my next step .... however, its your call... Good luck with your problem.. ;)
