complimentary windows 7 pack from Microsoft. Can I just insert the key

Hi,
Following the advise of Tom I sent my counterfeit discs off to Microsoft and I have just received a complimentary window 7 ultimate pack from Microsoft following submitting the report. ( thanks Tom).
I have windows 7 ultimate loaded on my PC (which was for system builders use only).
Do I have to do a clean install? or can I just enter the new product key that came with the new discs.
