Solved Computer becomes slow when I get into a folder with 1080p videos and s

I have a greater problem now ; The thumbnails are still the same unfortunately , but when I try to open a file which hasn't got a thumbnail, the video doesn't play, just the audio, and some don't even play at all!

I unistalled the old codecs (with the x64 components) as you told me before installing the new ones


Help me please Shark

Open each Settings app using a righrclick on the shortcut and choose, Run as Administrator.
Just openning them like that will perform some setups and most likely, solve your problems.

For some people, disabling UAC (user account control) can cause weird things to happen.
Did you lower the UAC setting on your system?

On the Config TAB of the 64bit app is a checkbox to Disable Thumbnails.
Is there any error message if you check / uncheck that box?

Yes I had UAC disabled since the first day I used Window 7 xD

and no there is no error message

as a test . . . in this order

uninstall the codecs
set UAC to the 'Default' setting, reboot your system
re-install the codecs, open each app as an admin using a rightclick on the shortcut
select the SUGGESTED settings checkbox in each app

test you files for playback..thumbnails etc

I tried them with and without suggested settings (using UACdefault settings) , but it didn't work, so I uninstalled them again , set UAC to Never notify again and tried installing them again,I selected the Suggested settings with UAC disabled and now ALL the thumbnails work, but the videos that have thumbnails now and before didn't, don't work, just audio, and some of them can't be played (not even audio)

I have thumbnails now but a lot of files don't work

its to bad you were so fast to disable uac again. oh well.
All i can suggest now is that on the help tab, use the Filetypes association button

I can enable it if you want to!! It's just that UAC is so annoying I turned it off xD


Tried the filetypes association again but nothing happens it's still the same

once you get things working, it can be turned off again.
It needs to be enabled during the codec installation, and when making chages through the app.

1st thing to do after installation, is rightclick the Settings app shortcuts (2 apps) and choose Run as Administrator
That should invoke a Reset routine ineach app. After that completes, use the button to associate filetypes to the Windows players on the Help tab. This should get most of your files playing properly.

Okay I've done what you said, now it worked now I get thumbnails in all of my video files and I can play them , but in the files that I couldn't play before, I don't see the subs , in the ones I could play I can see them , but not in the ones I couldn't play Do you know how to fix this?


By the way I really appreciate all the help your giving me ^_^

let me just make sure I understand the current situation.
All files play and are thumbnailed but some files are not displaying subtitles? Is this correct?

If this is so,
to get subtitles with AVI files, on the SWAP TAB, disable the DMO codecs.
to get subtitles with M2TS and MP4 files, select 'use FFDshow for (w)VC1' on the SWAP TAB
to get subtitles with MKV files, select 'Use FFDshow's codec' on the H264 TAB

If you do not use LiveTV, disable the Microsoft Video decoder on the SWAP TAB.
Making this selection will probably help with most other playback.

As previously stated, the 64bit app controls playback in Media Center
the 32bit app controls almost all other players.

When all your files are playing as you wish it, you can disable UAC once again.

Is the subtitle file named EXACTLY as the video?

examples: video.mkv video.srt /// another.avi another.sub

I can't see a subtitle file it's just the video files

I'll guess that its an MKV. Go to the MKV TAB and select Haali's splitter

what type of file? is it an MKV?

To assist, there is a button on the Misc TAB to Analyze a media file
Use that tool on that file not giving you subs and copy/paste that info here
