Computer can't process updates

When I shut down my laptop, it says 5 updates are loading which takes a few minutes.
Then when I start up, it takes 10-12 minutes to start because I think it is trying to process those same 5 updates. And all this has been happening for weeks. So I know it must be the same 5 updates, that are not going anywhere.
I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 / 64 Bit.
Can you please tell me how to get rid of those updates and stop them trying to load.

Control Panel/System and Security/Find and Fix problems/System and Security/Fix Problems with Windows Update

That fixed a similar problem where I had 4 updates that kept failing to install properly.

win 7 updates

if fixing broken updates doesn't work, boot into safe mod (F8) and go into system restore, restoring to a point prior to downloading the broken updates.
