Computer crash after using mic

I had a problem with my built in microphone in my laptop. My laptop is DELL inspiron 1440. I never had this problem till recently the computer crashed after using the mic. I have no idea why and what caused the problem I even had update the driver but yet it still never fixed the problem. Anyone can solved this? Help is appreciated.

is this a recurring problem? You make it sound like it only happened once. Test this a few more times and let us know what happens.

it is more than one time.. this is the fifth time i guess.. i first found out the problem when i am using the elluminate live by blackboard. the computer crashes after i pressed the talk button. i thought it was just the program was broken, i was wrong till yesterday cause when i used voip on msn. the computer crash again after i end the call.
