Hi
Running 2600k o/c 4ghz Asus Pro m/b 8gig Kingston ram 460 MSI graphic card.
New computer running great since I rebuilt 2-3 weeks ago.
Yesterday received blue screen of death while flying using MS FSX.
This morning same problem except the computer was idle, I was reading posts in this forum.

Temps (real temp display) cpu is 19-23 degrees celsius. Approx same yesterday.
Event viewer error for both crashes is the same:

1. Ran Furmark for 30+ minutes burn test. No crashes. Temps 33-58 degrees
celsius at 99% GPU loading.
2. Re-run MemTest 86 just in case. Have not used Kingston ram before.
Test completed after 42 minutes. No errors and test completed ok.

Leave everything at stock and use the PC normally for a few days. Prime95/Memtest/Furmark are not infallible, the true test is whether it BSODs or not. BSODs that do not produce dump files can be a sign of serious hardware issues.

OK. I will remove O/C and see what happens over the next week.
For some reason(over the years) if I had a blue screen of death I have never been able to find data or files as should be the case as advised in dialog box (details) on first reboot to desktop after crash.
Why is that? curious.

Thanks for taking the time to assist. Appreciated.

Small problem, memtest86+ doesn't 'Complete', the program will run continuously until the user reboots.

If it stopped it is because it had a major failure/error.

With 8GB RAM it will take 8-12 hours to complete the minimum 7 passes.

Go to your BIOS and tell us what the CPU, RAM and the CPU integrated memory controller voltages are.

What were the CPU core temps when running Prime95?
If you didn't check it, then run Prime95 again until the CPU core temps stabilize, don't go over 77.6°C.

Hi Dave76

Thanks for your response.
1. I stopped memtest86 after 42 minutes. Thought it was on pass 8 when I
stopped it as to that time no errors had been found.
2. After 2 + hours of running Prime95 temperatures were 63-67 degrees Celsius
and 67 degrees was on Core 3 and those temps had been constant for over 1
hour.
3. I have attached CPU-Z rar file as requested.
4. O/C this machine was my 1st attempt and I used this guide: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/overclocking/39184-p67-sandy-bridge- overclocking-guide-beginners.html
(refer#2 4ghz section). I believe I followed instructions to the letter.
5. As a novice your paragraph 5 your requests re CPU,RAM and CPU integrated
memory controller voltages leaves me perplexed. Only voltage I can find in the
bios is CPU voltage (+1.12volts). could you point me to where in the bios
to where I might find those entries (Asus P8P67 PRO m/b).

Your assistance is appreciated. The computer is on 18 hours/day and basically after 2.5 days no blue screens of death.

Run memtest86+ for a full 7 passes, when pass 8 starts you can stop it, this will take up to 8 hours or more.

For the integrated memory controller: VCCIO is the I/O voltage for the memory controller.
The RAM voltage is DRAM Voltage.

First as in the link you posted, I recommend to set your RAM to 1333MHz (666.7MHz) and lower the DRAM voltage to 1.500v.
This will put less stress on your CPU.

If you've caught the OC bug, then start lowering your DRAM voltage, say 0.05v for a start, if you get to 1.50v - stable- then leave it there.
If you get a crash, then start raising it 0.02v until stable (memtest86+).

Change the VCCIO to 1.100v and check for stability (memtest86+), do this only if you get another crash.
Raising this voltage too much will cause problems for your CPU.

To be honest, running your system at 1600MHz or 1333MHz will not change the performance, I would run the RAM at 1.50v and set the frequency at the necessary MHz.

Let us know how the memtest86+ test went.

Hi Dave76

I ran the memtest overnight and have just stopped it at 12hrs 08mins.
No errors found so I assume I can discount the RAM as the cause.
I note your suggestions. Will change to 1333MHz and lower the voltage to 1.5.

I will leave the O/C at that and see if that fixes the issue.

Many thanks for your assistance. I will get back to you if problem occurs again.
