Hello, I recently bought a new power supply, along with more ram because I was already ordering the power supply. When the package came and I set everything up in the computer, the PC turned on and everything was fine. I started to play a game with my friend and the computer just turned off. No error message, nothing. I believe the computer overheated, but I could be completely wrong. Now, when I start my computer up, it gets to the Launch System Repair (Recommended) or Start Windows Normally. If I select one of them, it will get into the 'Starting Windows' screen with the orbs, and then the monitor will just go blank. The computer still runs in the background, but my monitor just is blank. It is not the RAM (I switched and went to my old RAM) And I also cannot boot into safe mode, or anything of the sort, as the same thing happens. And I cannot boot from a CD (Tried with a windows 7 repair disc and computer goes blank again)

What happens if you start from win7 system repair disk? Till which do you get?
Using a Windows 7 Installation or System Repair Disc
1. Insert the Windows 7 installation disc, slipstream Windows 7 SP1 installation disc, or System Repair Disc into the CD/DVD drive and restart the computer.
WARNING: Check to make sure that you set the BIOS to have the CD or DVD drive listed first in the boot order.

2. If prompted, press any key to boot from the Windows 7 installation DVD. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: You will only have about 8 seconds to press this key.

3. Select your language preferences and click on Next. (See screeshot below).

4. Click on Repair your computer. (See screenshot below)

5. Select which operating system you want to restore and the click on Next. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: If Windows 7 is not listed here, or it is blank, then it is ok. Click on Next anyway.

"it will get into the 'Starting Windows' screen with the orbs"? What do you mean by orbs?
You see the animated starting windows flag? Approximately how long does it display the flag? After that... black screen.... no blinking cursor?

After starting from win system repair disk: "press any key to start from CD". Of course you press some key. After that it's black screen immediately?

The computer goes black after "Windows is loading files. . . ", and then goes to the loading screen, and it turns off at that loading screen. And yes to the question before that, the animated windows logo screen (approx. 5 sec after the screen appears... it doesn't even finish making the logo)

Is it a desktop pc or laptop? If desktop: power off and temporary disconnect harddrive cables. After that boot from repair CD. Same symptoms? Please explain what happens

Unplugged both cables from HDD and powered on my desktop. I hit any button to continue, and then 'Windows is loading files...' occurred. After loading the files, the screen switched to a loading screen (like this)

and then the computer turns black, while the PC is still running.

So same issue... even with harddisk unplugged.... strange. So not a win7 problem ... win7 disk isn't even connected. I'm thinking of a GPU problem but you see output before black screen.

Can you boot from some linux live CD?

So after downloading the ubuntu.iso file and burning it onto a disc, i loaded up my PC from the CD Drive and 'Loading Bootlogo...' appeared. Shortly after, the Ubuntu screen came up with many options, what should I do from here?

Press f8 while the system is booting (before the windows screen) and select VGA mode.

For Windows 7 select:
Enable low-resolution video (640×480)
Also problems?

Well, this is the 2nd time I ran the Ubuntu CD, and the first time it loaded and went to the Main menu with the install options, etc. But this time, it went to a black screen and is now searching for video inputs.

This is looking more and more like a hardware issue.

Mind explaining why you replaced the power supply?
