Solved Computer Crashed when I wasn't around it.

Hi, after changing my Power settings on my Windows 7 laptop, it crashed when I wasn't around it. I had to boot it back up. It said "Windows didn't shut down correctly." Here is my dump log.

I don't have the eyesight to wade through a dump file. My educated guess is two or more programs "fought" over the video card's resources [and/or memory resources] and the computer lost, locked up, forcing you to reBoot. Please let us know what you find out, I'd like to learn what happened.

This bugcheck is caused by the WinCAP implementation used by NETGEARGenie. You can fix this problem by updating the router's firmware. See link for instructions:

Why is NetgearGenie installed and running?

I have it installed to monitor who is on my network. I don't know of any other program besides NETGEAR Genie that will notify me of who is on my network.

Check for updates to the software or uninstall it to prevent BSOD'S.

Why don't you simply use some security to prevent unauthorized access to your network?

It is secured. I just like keeping an eye out on the traffic on my network. There are no updates that I know of for the software. Should remove it, since it's causing BSOD's?

Okay. I do have a NETGEAR router that is connected to my modem. NETGEAR Genie says it has a firmware upgrade. But, the password is wrong. I would I reset the router to factory defaults?

I thought you said you didn't have a Netgear router?

If you do have a Netgear router, you need to update the firmware. Google default router passwords if you don't know the password.

I do, but I am not connected to it. I upgraded the firmware on it.

Ok. Im not sure a firmware upgrade to a device that you aren't connected too, will help.

I removed the NETGEAR Genie application, though.

Golden, I was connected to the device to see if there were any firmware upgrades. That may have been what caused the BSOD last night. But, I am usually always connected to the main modem/router which is made by ARRIS.

Ok. Now that the firmware is updated, you should be able to connect that router and use Genie without BSOD.
