Hi! Recently (past month or two) My computer has had sudden crashes during certain games, while during others it can run without any interruption for hours. It's become more frequent (still the same games) recently and has become quite the problem. At first I wasn't sure if it was hardware or software related. I tried re-installing my drivers but nothing changed. Thought it may have been DirectX related but I read up on how to re-install it and wasn't sure I knew how to handle that process properly without messing anything up further. I then ran a /sfc scannow in cmd and came up with Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. I had some trouble opening the logs, but I believe I got the correct ones. Basically I was hoping someone could help me make sense of the logs so I could determine what the actual cause of my crashes are since I'm not very computer savvy. Thanks in advance!
Hey, your troubles may be independent of each other.
About sfc corruption:
- If you are up to date with Windows Updates - a recent update (KB3022345) corrupts 2 files.
- If this is the case, you can either uninstall it or run the fix from http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...update-kb3022345-causing-corrupt-files-3.html post #24 (x86 fix is 1 post above that)
- After solving the above, if you still get a sfc problem, post the new log for experts to analyze.
Games:
- Can be many things: drivers/directx/visual c++ redistributables/conflicting programs/an unstable overclock etc
- Did you check those games' forums? be it official or fan-made?
- Maybe you can get better assistance if you make a thread in Games section.

Thanks for the response I followed those steps you posted for the fix. Here is my log after scanning again afterwards: View attachment sfcdetails.txt (5/17 is the most recent one)
When it comes to the possible reasons for my game crashing my computer that you listed I'm not really familiar with "visual c++ redistributables or overclocking. When it comes to conflicting programs I can say I've tried a lot in regards to that. I've closed every program to make sure there were no conflicting programs and have still crashed. Sorry if I wasn't specific enough about the details of the games and crashes. One game in particular (HOTS) I was playing for over a year without any problems and then around 2 months ago I started crashing. A new game I've been playing (Warframe) I didn't have any problems with at the very start (first day or two) but within a week or so it's gotten to the point where it'll crash within the first 10 mins. The problem seems to have escalated quickly over the past week and I'm not sure if that points to hardware or software or a coincidence, but the problem itself has been apparent for around 2 months.
I've gone to forums for both games but didn't find anything major relating people's problems to mine. The problem just seems to be on my end. Also, the fact it doesn't occur on all games means (to me at least) that Warframe and HOTS have something other that these other games don't. A game I can play for hours (DayZ) which is quite graphically intense (and poorly optimized) is one I question why I can play uninterrupted. I've messed with a ton of settings in Warframe mainly (turned down graphics, turned off certain settings, messed with the ratio) but it didn't seem to really matter. I hope this can help a bit more. I can provide more specifics if anyone needs them. Thanks
You can edit the double post and delete from there if you so wish
Visual C++ redistributables - you can download from Microsoft, search with years 2005/2008/2010/2012, I doubt you need these though. You can still download and install them. If you are 32-bit then only x86 versions, if 64-bit both x86 and x64 versions.
Try clean re-installing the display drivers. You should get some hits if you search the forums.
By the way are these standalone games or from digital distribution downloads (Steam, Origin, etc.)? You can verify/ redownload/ reinstall (whichever is applicable).
You can also find where the settings file for the game is - probably in a folder in users folder (usually appdata or documents) and delete it after backing up somewhere. See if game will auto create a new one.
Note: I see HOTS as a battle.net game, if so, in game's screen (inside battle.net) click options and select scan and repair. If nothing found uninstall and redownload.

Warframe was through steam. I verified it originally when the problem occurred and it came up with a ton of errors. I re-installed it and verified it again, and still had problems. I then uninstalled and re-installed through their site instead of steam, but I've still had crashes so I guess that didn't do anything either. I just ran a scan on HOTS and it said no repair was required.
As for my most recent log, it seems the corrupted files remained unchanged. The steps were fairly simple so I believe I did it right. Do you have any idea why it didn't work or have another fix by chance? Then again you it's probably unrelated like you said earlier since I've had this problem for awhile and this update is fairly recent.
I'll do some research on the display drivers later and let you know how that goes. Thanks again
If you are absolutely sure you have applied the fix correctly then maybe someone knowledgeable should look at your case. (I don't have experience in this kind of troubleshooting).
You haven't posted the text file the fix generates at the desktop though. If you didn't get it maybe something didn't run correctly?
