You will want to install the the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver for Windows 7.

I installed the Storage Manager as per your recommendation
Was this showing as an error and was this causing the problem?
It reinstalled my DVD and an ST device.

I shut down the computer overnight and I did not recieve any BSOD so far today.

BTW, I have disabled sleep mode thinking this may have triggered the problem since it only happens while computer is unattended.

The crashes were showing a possible hard disk controller problem. That driver is for the hard disk controller. That is why I recommended updating it or re-installing it. It's possible your driver was either out of date or corrupted.

As for disabling sleep, only time will tell if it helped. If it helps right now, we will not know if it was the sleep disabling step or the controller driver update that resolved the problem. You may need to do some testing with sleep disabled and then with it enabled and see whether it has an effect.

I have not left the computer unattended for a while. I will try later or over the weekend to see if the crashes cease.

So far so good. No crashes reported. I have shut the computer over the weekend and it is turned on 1 hour before I arrive to allow network access.

OK this week... let's hope for the best.

Computer idled for 3 to 4 hours today and no crashes.

It has not crashed at all in ver a week. I am hoping this problem is solved.

Have you had a chance to test with sleep enabled, as well? I remember you had turned it off and were going to test with it enabled and disabled and see if it had an effect on the system stability.

I really never used sleep mode, just to test, I did enable sleep mode and left the computer for 3 hours without incident. I will monitor and update if there are any issues.
