My brother's old pc with a P4, 1GB of ram, 40GB WD HDD and xp sp3 is starting to crap out. The cursor was going all crazy and if I clicked to open the start menu it would close right away. If I clicked on IE8 once it would keep opening then up. Restarted then high pitch beeps starting happening. Opened up the case to make sure the cpu fan was still spinning to make sure the cpu wasn't overheating. Figuring it was in need of a HDD format, I took out the HDD and tried to boot it in my pc and it won't boot, keeps blue screening???

Yeah, you'll want to slave the second drive to yours and run a chkdisk on it. Might also want to scan it for malware/viruses while you're at it.

From your description, It sounds like there was an input device error though. So might not be too much to worry about. Did you try changing out the mouse and keyboard?
