Computer freezes all the time

I bought a HP Pavilion dv3 last year and I upgraded it from Vista to 7. Lately, my computer hangs all the time and when it freezes, the screen just stop moving and ctrl+alt+delete doesn't help, nor the power button. There's nothing I can do to shut down the computer so I have to take out the battery and unplug the power. Starting the computer after that is a pain in the neck as it takes AGES to reboot.

I have done a full virus scan and a full system scan and found nothing wrong with my computer. I notice that whenever I use the webcam, my pc tends to hang. At first I thought it was the HP MediaSmart's fault so I uninstalled it and reinstall the newer version of it. It did not change anything as my pc still gets frozen up at the most random time. I am devastated because my school projects are about to start and I don't have time to deal with all these windows nonsense. I am a computer noob. :(

Please, will someone help me with this? :o

After a freeze, check your windows event viewer for any system errors. If there are then post them.
