Computer guide missing

I know that is a horrible Title for this post, but I'm really not sure what to call it exactly.
The left part of the window that opens when attaching files to an email is gone, as shown in the picture below. Anyone know why this would be happening?
The left portion, notice how the C:/ D:/ nothing is there.

It's called a Navigation pane. Click on "Organize" in the upper left-hand corner then "Layout" and make sure "Navigation pane" is checked.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
Everything under the Layout drop menu is checked.
Menu is the only thing not checked due to it being greyed out.

If you did not wait too long to post this, please do a system restore.
Pick the date your Navigation Pane was present as your restore point.
