Hi,

I was just using my computer for a couple of minutes and it suddenly hanged up and became unresponsive. The CPU is running, but the system is hanged up/unresponsive. So I pressed the Restart button on the CPU. The CPU was on but the system won't boot (I can't hear a beep sound). I fixed some wirings at the back of the CPU and now I am able to boot. Can somebody explain what is/are the reason(s) that caused the sudden hang up and unresponsiveness of my computer?

Thank you.

What were you doing when it hung? Was it internet explorer or a browser that hung up?

When you have a hang, try Control Alt Delete and then wait to see if you can access Task manager. You'll want to take a look at what open Program is "Not Responding" on first tab, then click second tab for all users and see if any Processes are monopolizing the CPU at that moment.

If so, click the X out of the hanging window, or highlight it and End Task in Manager's first tab. If it offers to send a Report and restart, allow this so you can possibly get back diagnostics from MS which will come in under Problem Solutions in Action Center.

Until then you'll need to troubleshoot the hang yourself by checking the Event Viewer>Administrative View and also Performance-Diagnostics log for that timestamp. Also in Advanced Tools accessed by clicking WEI link at Computer>Properties, there may be problems cued at top, plus access to the logs and Generate a System Health Report.

Once you find any clues for what happened in the logs or as cued issues, Google error number and other identifiers plus some of the key text of the error/issue message to find results of others' attempts to fix same issue.

Repeat issues are the easiest to fix because they will show a pattern of errors in logs you can Google as they become increasingly annoying. Most all are solvable with today's Google results and the built-in tools and troubleshooters in Win7. At the worst you'd need to reinstall which is actually a good thing performance-wise, but as a last resort run 1) sfc /scannow and 2) http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R first.

The WHOLE computer hangs up all of a sudden. How can even do your recommendations when I can't even move the mouse nor CTRL+ALT+DEL. So I restarted using the CPU's restart button. After pressing, I can't hear a beep sound and my monitor doesn't display anything even if both of them (CPU and monitor) are turned ON so I forcely turned off the computer (unplugged right away) and then I tried to tighten the cables and wirings at the back of my CPU. I turned on my PC back and was able boot into Windows but suddenly after posting this thread, my computer hangs up AGAIN, but this time, the monitor shows "rainbow colors" wholely on the screen so I restarted the computer, and I can't hear a beep sound and my monitor doesn't display anything. I turned off the computer forcely again, opened the CPU and I noticed dust on my video card. Could this be hardware failure due to dust? Can I still save my video card? I was still able to play Heroes of Newerth yesterday...now my morning is welcomed by this problem. :(

This definitely sounds like a video problem.... see if you can find a different video card and see if your problem persists ... also check to see if your video cards drivers are up to date....
