Hi,

This problem has started recently. Moreover, new software and drivers have not been installed. When I put my computer into sleep mode, it immediately restarts itself, and when it restarts, it produces the “Windows Did Not Shut Down Properly” error.

Thanks in advance!

Try to updating the drive for your motherboard. It also might be a problem with Windows 7 that might fix it when it is re-installed.

If you are referring to the BIOS, that is already updated to most recent.

Hi,
I tried all of the steps in the guide, and re-installed the operating system. Now, instead of the computer restarting, it refuses to enter sleep.
Thanks!

Can you System Restore to before it stopped Sleeping?

Then save a Win7 backup image used for this purpose if Restore points go away.

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

No, I tried all the steps in the guide listed above, including doing a system restore to a date when I know sleep worked perfectly fine. This is the frustrating part! Not even restoring it worked.

Might start looking for corrupt system files and/or malware.

At an elevated command prompt try sfc /scannow.

Try all Display and Network drivers available.

In Device Manager check for Power Mgmt tabs on Network, Display, Processor and other drivers to disable wake.

Run the last wake command given in tutorial and post back what's waking it for help.

Turn off Media sharing in Network and Sharing Center Advanced options.

If all else fails try Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums

No devices are able to wake the computer. The last wake command says nothing, and the Media sharing option is turned off. I will do the Trace. Once done, should I upload it here?

Notify Cluberti first.

Sorry, I am not sure what you mean. Also, the guide you posted does not show how to do a sleep trace; is it separate, or do I just follow all the directions indicated?

I copied and pasted the first command into an elevated command prompt, but it gives the following message: "'xbootmgr' is not recognized as an internal or external comman, operable program or batch file."
