Try uninstalling that driver, rebooting, then reinstall.

Ha Hi Cataclism ,
Bro have u ever sync ur iphone in ur Komputer, Or installed Itunes Software , The internet connection drops means certainly its due to Bonjour Services

To remove the Bonjour Service:

• Stop Bonjour Service by opening a command prompt (remember to open the command
prompt with Administrator privileges in Vista) and type:
sc stop “bonjour service”
• Once that is done, in the same command prompt type:
sc delete “bonjour service”
• Now we need to disable the Bonjour socket driver.
• Start regedit.exe (with Administrator privileges in Vista) and go to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContr… es\WinSock2\Parameters\NameSpace_Catalog… Entries
\000000000004

(please note: the final digit in this key may vary depending on your circumstances - look
through all the entries under Catalog_Entries - the key you're dealing with should contain
LibraryPath = C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mdnsNSP.dll)

• Within that key find the entry:

Enabled=REG_DWORD:00000001 - change it from 1 to 0.
• Exit out of the command prompt and reboot your PC.
• Once you have logged back in, delete the C:\Program Files\Bonjour (with the files
mDNSResponder.exe and mdnsNSP.dll).
There you have it - these instructions will work for Windows XP and Vista, Windows 7

WeWill find out more, if this didnt work for you

Thanks,
Suren

yea, did that..f5ing...same story

i did hear about bonjour, so i decided to uninstall it while i was trying to make things working again. the thing idon't get, is that the adapter was working before the router reset, maybe not brilliantly, but it was... i tried finding the registry path now but there isn't one with bonjour in that place

Find the adapter in Device Manager and check its power options. Make sure it doesn't show any errors and that it's not set to allow the OS to turn off the device to save power...

If that's not it post a screenshot of an ipconfig /all.

Have you tried deleting the wireless profile and then recreating it?

What kind of security are you using for that wireless connection?

if you mean the profile on the d-link software, yes, recreated it like 5 times. I'm using WPA2 with EAS.

ok, i bought another adapter and internet now works; thing is, internet is not running continuously...it like stops for a few second every minute or so...this isn't so bad while browsing but when playing an online game it ruins everything. i'm suspecting the internet connection itself, but how can i test it?

Ok so it's pretty weird on speedtest. The download speed is spiking during the test, from an average of 5Mbs to ~20Mbs, sometimes 0Mbs. On one test I got 20Mbs/6Mbs, on another got 3/3. 5 minutes later something in between. Ping varies from 10 to 40...

Computer is like 6-7m away from router, signal through 2 walls.

Not really sure what I'm supposed to see from Xirrus.

Side question: The new adapter I got is Dualband, and it says it's connected to my router on channels 11 and 7, but my router is only sending on channel 11, is there a problem? Channel 6 is another wifi, that's why I'm concerned.

To be honest I don't know enough to help on dual band wireless. Very little practical experience. But I'd have to say it sounds very odd to see your adapter connected via 2 channels yet your router is broadcasting only 1 channel. So I'm guessing you may have a valid concern considering how channels overlap adjacent channels (like you might actually be connected to two access points and bouncing back and forth). See this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11

Use that app I linked to. Experiment with it a little and you might be able to identify what's happening and maybe rectify the problem.

It would be helpful to know the router and adapter make/model, and what wireless protocols you're using (802.11b/g/n/ac) and broadcast mode/encryption settings.

I know a someone here that has quite a bit of experience with wireless issues. I'll contact them with a link to this thread. In the meantime get that other info and post it here for us.

You don't want to be using channel bonding with a weak signal as it will only make things worse. Channel bonding only works well if you have a very strong signal.

To get on single channel mode go into the routers settings and change the setting that says 20-40Mhz and change it to 20Mhz only. Use Xirrus to make sure the channel is clear.

You will also want to disable the Msoft virtual wifi miniport adaptor as it can cause connection problem on some systems. You can do that in Device Manger.

It might also help to delete the other wireless profiles "in Windows" by going to the Network and Sharing Center, then on the left choose "Manage Wireless Connections" you will see the other wireless profiles there.

This connection "might" also work better without the D-Link connection software installed.

Sorry for late response, I was out most of the weekend. So here it goes:

Router is Zyxel NBG-419N, using 802.11b/g/n and security mode is WPA2-PSK with encryption AES-CCMP. The router firewall is off, hoping the internet works better like that. I was using MAC filter before the router reset, but haven't reconfigured it yet.

Adapter is Netgear N900 Dual Band USB Adapter WNDA4100.

Now about chev65's reply: changed to 20Mhz only and yea, adapter says it's connected only to channel 11 now. Disabled Virtual miniport adaptor and uninstalled d-link software (which I've done before installing netgear actually). There was no other wireless profile to delete.

I was checking the log again, and I get this every ~30s:

NBG-419N local6.info upnpd[3498]: AddPortMap: IP: 192.168.1.39 Prot: UDP Port: 52063 App: Teredo

Showing to upnpd[3499] instead of 3498 every other time. What does it mean? And apparently it's not only to my computer (the 192.168.1.39 being mine), it also happens to a laptop (with 1.34).

I'll give it a try for a day with the current settings and see if it's better and reply after that. Thanks!
