Solved Computer keeps loosing internet connection but other devices do not.

About once a week or more my computer looses its internet connection. I know this because I get the ! in the yellow triangle or the red x over the monitor icon in the task bar. I will also not be able to reach any web site. The strange part is that other devices within the house do not loose their internet connection. Items such as cell phones, tablets, Alexa, and my TV do not loose their connection. They gain access to the internet via wireless router which is part of the same computer system. These items connect perfect.
Here is information I believe to be important.
Internet via Spectrum cable. Motorola modem, Surfboard, SB6141. tp-link wireless router.
Windows 7 Professional w/service pack 1
Intel core i3-4170 [email protected]. 16 GB Ram - 15.9 GB usable. System Type 64-bit
Every time the computer looses the internet connection I unplug the modem and restart the computer and plug in the modem again. When the modem and computer start back up ever thing is fine till the next time the computer looses connection. I have tried different cords between computer, wireless router, and modem and that does not help. I have tried different ports on the back of the wireless router and that did not help. Are you using a cable or wireless? Open a CMD prompt type
Ipconfig /all

Go into the Network and Sharing center and select Change Adaptor Settings,

Right click on the Adaptor you use for connecting to the router, then select properties and Configure

Select the Power Management tab and make sure that the Allow the computer to switch off this device to save power option is NOT checked

"OK" back out and the system should not lose connection

In 90+ percent of cases like yours, that I'm asked to fix it's the power saving setting that is the cause - Especially suspect where all the other devices are working fine. You may also have to check the settings of any manufacturer supplied installed on the system "Tools" as these often duplicate Standard function.

My system has a modem supplied by Spectrum. It has a ethernet cable running between the modem, wireless router and computer.
I did try the Ipconfig /all and can up with all kinds of stuff way, way over my knowledge level. It did show a bunch of adapters and other stuff.

If you run your system for a while and the same issue is still present, then this could be down to a manufacturer utility, but could also be something Else. Finding an application that the manufacturer added is often just a case of checking the documentation that came with the system or checking the manufacturer website, It used to be that most Dell, HP, Etc came with their own Networking setup tool but is less likely since Windows 7

Have you updated the Realtek Ethernet driver?. I had problems with the old driver & I updated & now it works perfectly. The latest driver was released in August 2018 & you should be able to download it from here.

You will need to select the correct version for your computer.

The only thing Realtek that I have is Audio, as far as I know.

Open device manager. Do you see any yellow alerts of missing drivers?

When in Device Manager look for Network Adapters, which is where the Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller is located. You may have another brand on Ethernet Controller which should be shown here if that's the case & in that case see if you can find a driver update on the internet.

Unfortunately changing the power management setting did not do the trick. This morning the computer lost it's connection.

I did this and found the Realtek controller. Checked for driver update and message said that the best driver was already installed.

Have a look in Control Panel, Programs & Features & scroll down to Realtek Ethernet Controller & see what that installation date is.

The one I have is dated 8 Aug 2018, 4.94mb, & it's version is 7.119.615.2018

The second on the list is for Win 7. Click on global, give the code, download, extract (0025-Install_Win7_7119_08222018.zip) and install.

It can drop connection when it has to renew on the router set it to over a day
disable ipv6 its not used unless your using homegroup


Set your dns to 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1

Sumuria, You are talking way over my head at this point. Don't know what the lease refers to, don't know where to change the DNS, nor do I know what the ipv6 is or if I am using the homegroup. To all those trying to help I will be out of town for two days and won't be able to work on this issue. Thanks
