Computer locking up and freezing. Weird Icons and behavior.

Hello, around 9 months ago i installed a new WD Black 1 tb hdd from amazon. In the beginning it sometimes froze and locked up, later it got less. Now it happens everyday. The Mouse freezes for 2-5 seconds usually when i open, click, or switch to a different program or window( ex Chrome, My computer). Also the mouse icon sometimes switches to a weird line. Just now it froze for a couple seconds and now the icon is the mouse icon anywhere i put it, even on text. Sometimes the pc completely freezes and i have to reboot. Also, my computer properties show 8 gb ram, and PC wizard shows a little more than 6. Another thing is the WD diagnostic software shows 788 free space while My Computer shows 733.
