Computer not finding any wireless networks

About a week ago, my power went out, and when it came back on, I still had no internet. After a few calls to my local provider, they had me re-install my network adapters, and I could finally get internet when wired in. The problem is that it wont connect via wireless. I thought it was the router, but since my wife's computer (Vista) can connect via wireless, it has to be something with my computer. Further investigation shows that it wont even recognize any wireless networks. Ive tried a bunch of things like ipconfig/release and /renew, and cleared my DNS cache, but nothing seems to be working. Hopefully someone has seen this before and can help.

Here's some additional info that could be useful:

Hello there, Beck. Let me welcome you to Seven Forums.

Try to uninstall your Wireless drivers, download them from the Toshiba Site, install them and test again.

Toshiba Support - Homepage

Make sure to select your exact model.

If not, uninstall the drivers, reboot and let windows 7 find its own! that could work too :)

Silly question, do you have the Wireless on? or is it enabled in the Network Adapters and Connections?

EDIT: use the "Code" option for not making your post too long :) (code the whole ipconfig /all value) like this:

Code:
hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello
hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello
hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello

The "Code" option is the one with the "#" next to the "YouTube" button.

Your wireless adapter does not show up as an adapter in your ipconfig list. Is there the possibility that your wireless adapter has crapped out or is turned off.
Check the devices in your computer to see if you have a wireless adapter listed.
If not then you will need to have the switch turned on for wireless.
There is a power option in the properties of yor wireless adapter that allows the system to turn the power off to it when ever it finds that it is not used for a while.

check that and also check for the physical switch for your wireless. Or some toshibas use a function key to turn the wireless on and off.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
Thanks for the quick responses.

I went ahead and downloaded the latest driver from the Toshiba website as I did have an old version, but this still did not fix the problem.

The actually physical switch is on, and the wireless adapter says that it is enabled (checked by going to Device Manager -> Network adapters, then checking the properties.)

I would be mildly concerned if my wireless router was the only network my computer couldnt read, but I cant even read any of the neighbors wireless networks either.

Since my wireless switch is on, I have the right driver and its enabled, I would think that I should be able to connect wirelessly, unless Im missing something (entirely possible, Im not the most computer savy person).

If its possible something just "crapped out", I might just bring it back in and have someone look at it.

You wireless device is definitely not showing up in your ipconfig output so Windows is not seeing it.

If it is showing up in Device Manager (post a screen shot) then uninstall it from there, then reboot. Let windows rediscover it and reload the driver, see if that helps.

You could also try turning the wireless off via the switch then power off. Power back on and then turn the wireless on again, see if that makes any difference.

Screen shot of the driver is attached.

I tried the flip the switch/power down method, but no results.

Im going to see if my computer can find the right driver.

Apparently the computer did not find the right driver. In fact, in my network and sharing center, I used to have a link that said "Manage Wireless Networks". No networks were visible, but still... Now, I dont even have that.

Did you try uninstalling it from Device Manager then rebooting? Doing that will let Win 7 rediscover the device and reload the device driver.

Also, found this on the Realtek web site: Realtek

You could also try doing a System Restore to before the power outage, that may fix the problem. Click on Start, type system restore then click on System Restore when it's displayed to get it started.

Do you have a Windows 7 install DVD or did Win 7 come installed and all you have is the built in Recovery partition? If nothing else works, you could try a Repair Install then if that doesn't fix it, restore to factory installed state using the built in Recovery partition, or clean install via the Win 7 DVD.
