Interesting report....
The BIOS is dated less than 24hours after Win7 went RTM - and is apparently for Vista, rather than Win7
The Product Key is a Retail one - and I think it's an Upgrade (difficult to be certain of that)

The balance of probabilities is that the IRST Driver that VistaKing directed you to is too recent for your machine.

Installing the Intel ISMT Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=17882

(IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

You are absolutely correct in your deduction. This laptop was originally purchased with Vista installed, but was upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate after about a year of aggravation.

I downloaded and installed the driver from the previous post. It installed without issue. I have also rebooted twice and have included a new report from MGADiag.

In that case the most common cure is to rename the CATROOT2 folder.....

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

The only other thing short of a repair install is....

Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Run the following commands

NET STOP WUAUSERV
REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
NET START WUAUSERV

wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.
