Computer refuses to shut down and then BSOD's on me if I let it run.

Huh, are we sure it's still just a driver causing the problem though? I mean, I did do some stuff: watch videos, plug and unplug peripherals, browsed the internet (as best I was able to), but I didn't try playing a game. I used it pretty normally other than that. Haha, kind of an unexpected troubleshooting step, but I'll try that in a bit here.

As of the 17th, you still had GeForce Experience installed. Uninstall it, just the GeForce Experience. I'm not sure of anything. It is either a driver or you have a hardware problem or corrupted system files. As I understand you, after uninstalling the Razor Drivers, you have been running better.

Alright, I turned driver verifier back on to play some games and they didn't cause any problems! I was over 200 FPS at max settings on my favorite, but buggy, free to play game and I was getting consistent FPS on pretty high settings on the latest AAA game I bought. No BSOD's or really anything to report.

Oh yeah, you're definitely right that it's a lot better though! It's only required a second shut down once since having uninstalled the Razer and GeForce Experience programs. The fact that it did happen that one time though is what's making me scratch my head a little bit...

Alrighty, Essenbe! Well, it's been three days and I haven't had any more unsuccessful shut downs or BSOD's. I suppose I consider the problem tentatively solved? I'll just leave the thread open (i.e. not mark it solved) for a while longer in case the problem mysteriously reappears?

Well, talk about speaking of the devil... As I shut it down this morning, it automatically restarted. It did, however, successfully shut down the second time. Without understanding what's causing the problem though, I'm afraid it will escalate to that point where it's impossible to shut down. :/ On the other hand, this is only the second time it's done that since uninstalling GeForce Experience and the Razer software... Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sure thing, but I'll have to wait until I get home from work. Perhaps I should start a new thread in like...hardware or devices or something? I only ask that because the shut down issue kind of pre-existed the BSOD's... or rather, the BSOD's seemed to be a kind of consequence of all the shutting down problems if you know what I mean. I also haven't had a BSOD since I last uploaded the results of one of those diagnostic tests, so I don't know how much different it would be.

Either way, whatever you want to do is fine with me. The failure to shut down is usually a program that refuses to shut down so your computer starts back up. The big problem is figuring out which program that is, and why it is doing that.

Right right! I was, I guess, trying to subtly ask if you were still willing to help or if you think I'd be better served by posting in some other topic. :o Well, anyway! I added the DM Log you requested. Is there any way to help isolate which program is responsible and how to make it start acting right?

You can do whatever you think is best. Of course I am willing to still help. It will be very hard to figure out though because it happens so infrequently. If it was an every time thing, or even an every day thing, it would be much easier. I'll take a look and see what I can find. To be honest, if it were mine, I would do a clean install, for obvious reasons.

Look in add remove programs and see of you see a program named Getoddmodel.exe. If you can't find it, look at the provider. It will be from a company named LeaderBit. See what you can find. It has caused a few errors in your system. You have a ton of errors from Firefox and having to do with your Network. Do yourself a favor and get rid of Utorrent. You did uninstall Dameon tools didn't you? I would try getting rid of Dameon Tools, Whatever the Getoddmodel is, Utorroent and I would uninstall Firefox, even if just for a test. I would also get rid of your VPN as a test aso.

Great idea Steve.

I have been watching this thread from the beginning and I also think getting rid of the junk as Steve has recommended and staying rid of them would help by leaps and bounds.

Utorrant alone could of loaded all kinds of infection, PUP ect.
I personally believe their are several problems.

If it was my computer I would do a Clean Install and let Windows 7 install the drivers and go from their.
Making sure that no junk is installed later that will get in the way.

If Nvidia drivers need updated later Steve's tutorial would be the method I recommend.

Just my 3 brain cells worth.
I don't want to get in the way so
I will go back to watching.

Thank you Steve.
I'm not a BSOD Team member so I just mostly watch.

I do believe that after a Clean Install properly activated and/if another BSOD happened it would be much easier for you to deal with like I seen you do so many times before.

This troubled computer has just to much garbage to work around.

I think you are right, Jack. I suggested that already. We have spent 2 weeks on this. Unless it is hardware, which I don't think, a clean install and it would have been running fine long before now. The problem usually is, it takes so much time just running down what the problem is, and then time to fix it, if it can be fixed. A clean install and you can be functional in a few hours. Plus the fact that some times even if you find the problem, it can't be completely fixed.

I did notice you recommend the clean install before but nothing came of it.
I really don't see any other choice other than a clean install at this time.
