None taken... There are a lot of idiots in my generation. I've always supposed I was born in the wrong generation because I hate just about everything about my peers and the way they act. My favourite has to be Lamb of God (the name is wonderfully ironic), and I am listening to that now.

Umm, well, now, that depends upon what you call this generations music....

For instance, I listen to techno (OK, last generation, but still popular with the kiddies) - mostly Trance, but I also like metal, Hard Rock, and some other stuff as well.

I also do like classic rock, but only so much - I prefer my eclectic tastes of old and new, mostly new - I like Linkin Park, I like 30 seconds to mars, I like Stuck Mojo, I like Sevendust....but I also like The Crystal Method, I like Rabbit in the Moon (and in particular Monk), I like Tiesto (for which most people hate me lol)....

I like what I like and IDGAF who else likes it - that's pretty much my philosophy on audiology.

@lb - everything before this Adv Calculus class has been easy, but I last looked at Calculus like 20 years ago. This is Advanced Calculus, arguably one of the hardest classes taught at the Uni in the undergrad level. This goes back an takes everything that you learned and took for granted in the original Calculus I / II / III classes - limit definition for derivatives, Fundamental theorems of Calculus, etc. - and proves them. In terms of abstract concepts. And they change the gd definitions into more 'usable' and 'fundamentally correct' terminology - but which is nevertheless confusing when you're used to using delta-X definitions and now all of a gd sudden you're using X-sub-naught notation....

Sorry for venting - it was a PITA class that I must repeat - and that is pretty embarrassing for someone with my usual ability in Math to breeze through.

I classify my generations music as the crap Britney Spears spews forth from her mouth, or how about Miley Cyrus or Lady Gaga? On a fairly unrelated note, I personally find their American Idol worship disgusting. And yes, Linkin Park is pretty good. Their Minutes to Midnight CD is pretty well done.

I would rather beat my head in with a rusty mace. I completely agree. My friend likes Lady Gaga, and I don't get it. Sure, my music is violent and you can't understand the singer (I can though....:sarc but at least its not pornographic (or rap).
I would consider this generation more rap than anything else, but I don't really consider rap music.
I play trumpet in Wind Ensemble and Marching band (and a little jazz), so I do enjoy classical. I don't have any I listen to, but I enjoy playing it.

Math has never been easy for me. There are kids in my classes that breeze though it (like another of my friends) while I am sitting there saying "I still don't get last years stuff....". It gets frustrating. Especially when I can't meet my expectations, let alone my parents.

Let's face it, there are plenty of genres for every 'generation' - rap, pop, girl bands and country are not the only ones.

Most ppl from my gen cannot understand my addiction to Trance.... but heaven forbid if I point out the fact that they admit to liking Disco....

M2M is their best album in terms of raw band talent - no more synths, it's real beats - and pretty good ones too....

But I have loved them since the first time I heard One Step Closer when they were an 'undiscovered' band....

I am not sure if I would say this generation is more rap than anything - sure, Hip hop has made a lot of inbound roads into mainstream culture, but you have to remember - everything that was mainstream was, at one time, the alternative...Rock and roll was alternative....metal was alternative...techno (and more its predecessors, both electronica and industrial) were alternative....

A friend of mine once joshed me for saying I liked alternative music, b/c she pointed out the very same point I just made - and sure enough, now alternative is now a mainstream genre. Blink 182 is touring again. papa Roach is still around, other bands continue to make a go of it.

hell, Motley Crue was supposed to be trying to get back together for the umpteenth time, Maiden still rocks (to me), and newer bands are taking up the mantle of the old timers' stuff - I love bands like Disturbed, Godsmack, and Stuck Mojo's rise from the ashes back toward mainstream....

The folks that listen to R&B and hip hop - I have nothing against them and they have nothing against me blasting 30 seconds to mars in my car. I love older Queensryche (the splitting up of the band with de Garmo leaving was hard - they just don't have the same flair anymore) but there are other bands that also take the mantle - I am a silly addict of SOAD, don't ask me why, and more local bands of the harder nature....

Bah. I don't hold it against them if they don't hold my own choices against me. If they do, F'em.

I have always loved Math, but it was the logic behind it that kept me driven. it is why I still love trying to solve problems, both hardware and software related, today - the underlying logic.

Ever listen to Earl Klugh? Some great jazz guitar...[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7fF_eRYM5k"]YouTube - Earl Klugh - This Time[/ame] It's got a nice smoothness to it that makes me appreciate it. I also get a feel when I hear jazz guitar like a voice is going to say softly, "you're watching the Weather Channel."

My step-son started out at Caly-Poly in Aerospace engineering. I think he spent too much time Surfing instead of studying. It has now taken him 4 years to get a 2 year AA degree. This is very disappointing as parents as he is a very intelligent young man. He just does not have any common sense when it come to applying himself :shock:
