No, don't run it with Microsoft drivers. Microsoft drivers will not make the computer cut off, freeze or crash unless they have been corrupted, altered or changed in some way. I would give it a little more time and consider a reinstall.

Check your MB Manual about the location of standoffs. There should be a standoff for each hole, but no standoffs that don't line up with a MB standoff hole.

A reinstall of Windows? I checked the manuals that came with motherboard and there was no info about standoffs or their locations. I marked the standoff locations on this picture in red. In the top right of the picture there is a standoff not screwed down to the case, circled in green is the closest standoff on the case.

The one circled in green shouldn't be there. I can't say it is hurting anything, but why take chances. The question is, are there any standoffs under the board that do not line up with a hole in the board? There should be none.

That was my concern. But it seems you are having some other problem, which is not a BSOD problem. It sounds more as an electrical problem, to me. Perhaps you have a short somewhere or a PSU problem or something else.

I have changed the PSU recently and have had the problem with both of them. What parts of the computer should I be looking at if I want to find the source of the electrical short.

Definitely a hardware problem. Did you build the computer, as in "assembling parts"? If so, the first thing I would check is for overheating CPU due to bad thermal paste placement. You can monitor the CPU temp for a while and see if it raises before shutoff.

I'm assuming you removed drives and video card prior to taking the photo. If the CPU checks, try running with just the onboard video (card removed) and see if it still shuts off.

If I may I noticed some things in the picture in post 23

Lower left corner of picture I don't see a cpu power plugged in. I'm think that is either a 4 or 6 pin socket. Just to the right of the lower left screw circled in red.
I have no idea how things work without cpu power.

Red, yellow, black wires seem to be caught between the case and the I/O panel.

cow8duck do you have a knowledgeable friend that can help you install your hardware? What case are you trying to install this motherboard in. It's not in your specs.
It's very hard for Steve and I to see everything from behind our keyboards.

I don't have a dedicated gpu just using the built in graphics in the cpu. I'll check out what temperature the cpu is running at. In the picture I posted I removed all wires from the motherboard to show standoff locations, but I do have the 4 pin cpu cable plugged in. CPU is running at 60-70 degrees Celsius when it shuts off.

Using the APU will make it run a little hotter. 70 is OK, but a little on the warm side. I believe Core Temp (Core Temp) will tell you that the max temp is 85. I never get within 10-15C of the Max as software readings are notoriously wrong. You may consider an aftermarket CPU cooler. It doesn't have to be an expensive one. There are some good CPU coolers in the $30-35 range. However I don't believe that is your problem. What case do you have? Some cases can have shorts in the Front Panel Connections. I would check every wire that is attached to the case. Try unplugging every wire from the front panel connections except the start button. Unplug them the USB cable and everything else and see if the same problem exists. If you have a start button on the Motherboard, unplug the start button also. Check every connection and make sure they are completely seated, in the correct orientation, and tight so they do not move. If you are overclocking, set everything back to defaults. Leave cool n Quiet enabled.

I updated system specs with case info. I only have the front power switch wire from the case plugged in. In the BIOS I turned cool n quiet on it was set to auto before. I am still getting kernel power failures, I attached the details not sure if that will help.

That Kernel-Power-Failure does not tell us anything at all, unfortunately. All it means is that the computer shut down unexpectedly.

When this happens, do you notice anything different going on, such as the computer becoming non responsive before it actually shuts down? Does the computer shut down or restart? If it restarts try this

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click Advanced system settings.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check

I notice nothing different when it happens. It usually restarts when on a website with flash but it never restarts consistently sometimes it takes 5-10 seconds after flash has loaded and other times it takes 3 minutes. I tried turning off the auto restart but it still restarts, and when I check it has turned auto restart back on.

See if you have a BIOS Setting, and are you running the latest BIOS? Also, disable hardware acceleration and see if it helps.

I don't want to get in the way but I'm not quite following after reading post #35. Actually the whole thread hasn't added up to me.


cow8duck are you having a problem with flash stopping and then taking some time to start. Or are you having a problem with the computer stopping?

When Flash stops working does the computer freeze?

If you wait long enough will Flash starting working again and the computer go back to working properly?

Does your computer work properly if you are not using the internet to watch thing like youtube or movies.

If you are just using the internet to do things like this forum do you have problems.

I asked two things in my post #29 that were not answered.

Any power to ground short can cause this type of problem.

The problem I am having is the computer will just shut off and restart. Websites with flash cause the computer to shut off, flash doesn't stop, it runs fine then the screen goes black. It will occasionally shut off overnight with no programs open. Websites like this do shut off the computer it just takes longer for the computer to shut off.

The red black and yellow wires are not caught between I/O panel and the case.
I had a friend who has built computers before build this one for me.

It seem to me your problem has nothing to do with the internet but the way you have your system put together. I don't believe at this time it has any thing to do with drivers or mini dumps caused by BSOD.

Now answer the other question about a friend and the wires that are pinched between the case and I/O panel.
