Ok, recently my friend's computer had some issues. It'll boot up, but it'll immediately go to "Windows is loading files" screen like how it does when you're trying to install a new OS on a computer. Unfortunately then it takes me to the Windows repair scanner which never finds anything

Something I've tried are booting by CD to get a new OS, but the computer will not boot by CD because it'll immediately load up the "Windows is loading files". I tried to do the command in the CMD to scan for hardware changes and repair them, but that also doesn't work. It says, "Windows is already running a scan, restart the computer and try it again." It basically won't load past the 1st screen of the computer which just states what the computer is

HHR,
Either have your friend start a thread or fully and completely fill out the system specs to match his computer. I'm not good at shooting into the dark.

You can't really check the information (Or I don't know how). All I know is the operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate

I have a feeling that they probably tried to install Windows 8 on their computer, but didn't let it install completely. So there might not be a boot

Ok, I managed to get into the BIOS and get the computer information

  • Notebook Model: Hp G60

Processor Type: Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU

    • T4200
    Total Memory: 3072 MB
    BIOS Version: F.33
    Factory Installed OS: Vista
  • Current OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
When I try to boot from CD it says, "Loading Windows" then the screen changes fast and goes to "Windows is loading files". That's followed up by the startup repair

excellent. Be sure and put that info into your system specs so that one doesn't go searching of the info in the thread(which most won't do anyway)..

Here's how to put the info into the system specs (plus more that you cant use quite yet).Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

Evidently you didn't tell the bios to boot first from the CD/DVD reader.

Where did you get the Win 7 DVD?

Do you have the necessary 25-character Product key?

The key should be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop or underneath the laptop battery on the case (not on the battery).
