I'm going to upgrade my processor, ram and motherboard ,will I need to reformat my existing hard drive or can the drivers etc. be installed on the existing drive?I have a backup made but I suppose that would be no good once the new drivers etc are installed.Would it be easier installing a new separate hard drive.

You won't need to format your existing hard drive.

Once you've installed your new hardware and relevant drivers you can then create a fresh backup and delete the old one.

Do you have a Win7 retail or OEM license. If you have an OEM, the OS will not validate with a new mobo.
