Solved Computer went psycho for an hour

By this I mean, icons on the taskbar stopped working. I'd click them, they'd stay down and apps would not start. When I got Firefox to start it would only start in Safe Mode and deleted my add-ons. Fortunately, it did not delete my bookmarks. Worse, the keyboard caps lock was reversed. With key caps off, caps came on and visa versa. I was unable to type a period. I have an old IBM that I've used for years so I got out the Logitech wireless which has never given me problems. It exhibited the same problems.

I got really scared when Keepass told me the keyfile was invalid and said all my passwords were gone. That's when I went for the backup.

I was unable to reach my backup archives because when I clicked on the directory, everything above it was selected as well. My wife was on a Skype call. The call kept dropping in and out. She's used Skype for years and never had this problem. There were other problems too but they escape me at the moment.

Eventually, after about an hour, the computer returned to its normal behavior. I did run a Security Essentials scan which showed nothing.

Just curious. Anyone experience anything like this?

Install Malwarebytes free on-demand scanner, declining free trial, update and run a Full Scan.

Then do the same with SuperAntiSpyware.

Check System Files, cull the logs, check other System Resources and other related Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which should turn up anything that's a problem

If your system has been infected it is advisable to run MBAM's Chameleon and if it's not infected it won't hurt anything. Visit the following link;

Ran the Malwarebytes. Didn't detect anything. Currently, my system is running, what appears to be, OK. Thanks for the tips.

If you'll go over the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 it may turn up the problem to prevent in the future. The steps also will help optimize your Win7 and help you become more famillar with it.
