Computer-wide adding network printers

Is there a way to add networked printers at the computer level (e.g. globally across all user accounts that ever log onto the machine)?

As far as I know the only way to add printers is on a per-user basis.

Simply share the printer on the network....

Ok... then forgive me, but I don't see the problem...

All the individual computers are on a domain. When logging on a specific computer with my Active Directory account name/pass and mapping out a network printer (which is on the print server) it will only persist for my account and no one else's AD account on the computer. I would have to log on to everyone's separate AD accounts to add networked printers (which I can't do).

I believe USB connected printers show up on everyone's account on that specific computer.

What I want to be able to do is map out the networked printers one time under say a domain administrator account, and have them show up in devices and printers for every user that ever logs on to that computer. How do I do this?

Once again, this should be possible through Sharing the printer... When the user clicks on My Network (or Network Places, depending on OS revision) then the print server it should list them... The first time they use each printer there will be a bit of roughness as a protcal driver is installed. From there they should have full access to it...

They should also be able to use the "add printer" dialog to accomplish the same thing.

It may depend on the server and it's settings... but shared USB printers are usually only visible when they are turned on.

I don't believe there is an administrative way to pre-map devices as you suggest... but I could be wrong.

Perhaps I should defer to one of the others and let them give you better advice...

You may need to add the printer as a domain user. There are a few steps in this Technet post that might help. This is all I could find on this, it has to do with installing drivers to the domain machines before hand.
