Computer will not boot in any mode

My laptop just shut itself down saying something about it being damaged if it didn't. I didn't see the error myself someone else was on it at the time. It will not boot in any mode, safemode it gets stuck at random drivers it won't even boot from my OS disc to repair. It will load all the files from the disc then it shows the initial Windows start screen then is just black with the mouse pointer. Any ideas what's going on?
