Computer will not start first thing in the morning.

Hi all, this thread is getting a little confused and I am sorry if my explanations are difficult to understand, thank you all for trying to help me but I will close this thread, if I resolve the problem I will keep you informed. Many thanks, Shibumi1

Everyone seems to be getting a bit confused with shibumi1's (the OP) problem. From what he has said he shuts his computer down in the normal way, by selecting Shut Down from the start menu.
If he leaves the power connected to the computer it will not start again the next morning.
However, if he turns the power off at the wall socket, it will start again the next morning, after turning on the power at the wall socket first.
It does sound like a possible PSU problem or a problem with the motherboard.

I always shut my computer down overnight & I turn off the wall socket as well, even though I have a surge protector & UPS.
If the power is left on at the wall socket the PSU & motherboard are still active. A lot of people don't realise this, so a power surge during the night such as distant storm or similar can blow the motherboard. A surge protector will help but it is not complete protection. If there are storms about I shut down my computer & pull the power plug out of the wall socket.

I read your first post again. To me, instead of a bad power supply which is still possible, I am thinking you might need a cmos battery. You might try this in the morning. Press the power button once and wait like 30 minutes and see if it comes on. If you do get a new cmos battery. Keep the computer plugged in for 24 hours before unplugging it or turning off the wall switch. If you don't know how to replace a cmos battery, you will need someone else to do it for you.

Just go out and buy a surge protector.
