Solved Computer Will Not Start

My computer will not go past the manufacturer splash screen.
There is no beep sounds.
I changed the hard drive (old one was Failing) and I took out the battery
to reset the system. I tried to to do a system restore with the DVD, however the
computer would not read the DVD, though I could seed the DVD light come on.
Could the battery cause the system not to start?
Help!!!!
The battery has been in there about 3 years.

Yes. But not able to start.
Right now I have a new hard drive in it.
And have tried to do a system (Factory Restore).
But it will not read the DVD. Even though the DVD
light will go on the turn off.
Will not respond to any of the "F" keys.

Hi RalphG,

You could try Installing from a USB Flash drive or a USB optical drive (if you have one)? I recently had to install Windows onto an ASUS Eee 901 which has no drive at all, and it worked like a charm. This guide may help:

If you changed any bios settings you could also try to reset the CMOS by removing the battery or using the jumper link if your M/B has one, wait about 15 mins or so replace and reboot, might then boot for you.

Try this:

You can start System Restore from a command prompt window if you can't start your computer in any mode other than safe mode with command prompt.

1. Start your computer in safe mode with command prompt. For more information, see Start your computer in safe mode.
2. At the command prompt, type rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
