Computer won't display at the screen

All of a sudden, upon starting the PC, I got an error regarding some missing kernel in the OS which can be fixed by repairing it using the Windows 7 installer. I got the idea on how to fix that part, but only to encounter yet another problem from the PC. Upon insertion of the Windows 7 installer and tried resetting the PC, nothing appears on screen anymore. What could be the problem here? Hopefully it's not hardware related since I don't have much experience with it. .

Are you booting the DVD, from F12?

I think I knew where the problem is. It happened the same thing to the PC before aside from the OS problem. The problem lies with the faulty serial ATA cable that connects the HDD to the motherboard. I managed to make the DVD boot Windows 7 but is lagging (a lot) in the 'Starting Windows' logo after re-inserting the HDD cable to another slot on the motherboard.

When I tried to re-install Windows 7, the system doesn't see any HDD in it thus proves that the faulty serial ATA cable is the problem.
