Computers In 10 Years?

Ten years before, my brother used to run a computer with 80gb harddisk, and it seemed that it could gobble up whatever taste he would want...and now, it seems like the evolution of cloud computing makes the universe just too small to fit in...

Yeah, I guess if the people in the industry who are backing the cloud get their way, that would mean that it wouldn't be a requirement for the PC of the future to have a large amount of local storage. Maybe just a small, fast SSD to boot the OS, if even that. Why have terabytes and terabytes of hard drive space if all our documents and data (and maybe our apps and games, too) is stored remotely?

On the other hand, one would need to consider the cost of bandwidth and usage caps with their ISP, if so much was located remotely.

That's a good point seekermeister. Every body is going to have to pay for a T1. Face Book, You tube is cloud computing and we know the security problems they have. When you put your security in someone else hands IMHO your asking for trouble.

I think I'm with you guys. For me anyway, at least for the time being, the cloud is a supplement to my computing, not my primary means of storing things.
