Solved Conexant ac-link audio drivers for WIN 7 32bit not working

Hi. I upgraded my OS to Win 7 on a Toshiba L25-S121. Everithing works perfect excep for the audio. Tried installing oem XP drivers in Compatibility mode and worked once. After restarting the PC the red cross at the speaker icon came back and the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" was displayed again. Tried to install the oem driver again and never worked. Tried several conexant drivers and realtek drivers and nothing worked.

There are many instances of XP sound hardware not compatible/working in Vista/Win 7. Vista/Win 7/Win 8 handle some sound functions differently and the reason XP drivers do not work, or work properly. If there are no Vista/Win 7 specific drivers you will have to use a separate, Win 7 compatible sound device, such as a USB sound "card".

If the sound device was Win 7 compatible, Windows would have installed the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Codec. As this apparently did not happen, that says the device is not Win 7 compatible.

Thanks for your rapid response. I appreciate your advice but I am not completely sure about Win 7 not being compatible with the device. I had read about many other users having my same issue with other conexant devices. They had the same situation and fixed the problem with a compatible driver. I just need someone to point the driver that can work for this device. Also, as I mentioned before... It worked for some time perfectly, that means Windows CAN perform using this device.

Hope somebody con help me on this one...

By the way ... the device is a CONEXANT AC-LINK AUDIO (FOR LAPTOP)

I've worked a lot of audio problems on this forum and others. In almost all cases (actually all that I've seen), if the device is Win 7 compatible, as I mentioned Windows will install the HD Audio Codec driver.

I hear what you are saying about it working with the XP driver, but that was a fluke.

Thanks for your help, I tried installing the driver you found. The yellow sign went away but the red "X" is still in the speaker. Looked at the device manager and found this message... Also i tried updating the driver with the oem driver...at the end of the setup it say success update installation but nothing happens.

OK, tried to install an universal Microsoft audio driver... It installed, but red "X" is still on the speaker and have no sound up to now.

Thing is it worked fine for some hrs.... how this can happen?

Got it working again... Just Re-installed windows 7 and installed OEM form 2005 driver as compatible XP program and started to work perfectly! Hope it stays working!
