conflict between mouse & tablet

My Toshiba Satellite laptop with Win 7 Home Premium works fine with the touchpad and a wireless mouse, but won't recognize my Wacom tablet unless I remove the mouse's USB plug and reboot. It just doesn't seem to like the mouse and tablet combination.

Any ideas about finding and fixing the conflict, or is there a way to tell Win 7 that I want to use a specific device without rebooting? (Neither the mouse or the tablet comes up as a choice under 'safely remove hardware'.) Thanks!

have you installed the wacom drivers, or are you just using the limited windows 7 ones?

I installed the drivers that came with the tablet, ditto with the mouse. I have also upgraded the driver for Win 7 per the Wacom web site.

FIXED IT!!! My wireless mouse (rocketfish) has an on/off switch on the bottom, so I turned it off, waited a minute and turned it back on -- now the tablet AND the mouse work. Good grief, who'd have thought to "reboot" the mouse? Anyway, at least it might help someone else... :-P

using wireless..is always have a receiver to connection. and also have a switch on/off on the device.
maybe forget to switch it on. so the connection on the receiver can't be execute.

Nope, as I said, I had to switch the mouse OFF, then back on. It was already on and has been working consistently for 1.5 years --- until I installed the tablet, that is. Removing and reinserting the USB plug didn't make a difference, but again, what worked was turning the mouse itself OFF and then ON, as if I had rebooted it.

Thanks! I'm always so grateful for what I learn on forums, so I wanted to post how it was resolved - even though it was so simple. :-)

BTW, this is a European Wacom tablet not sold separately here in the US, but is included with the embroidery software "drawing kit" for my Husqvarna Viking sewing machine from Sweden.
