Confused about memory figures

I have taken some screenshots of the figures to help.
Why does it show my free memory as been so low even though my available memory Is a lot higher.

Are these normal or have I got something set up wrong.

The Green "In Use" is what the system is current using. Or whats Active right now.

The Blue "Standby" are items you used earlier, OR that Seven thinks you will use soon based on your usage History/Habits.

The light Blue 'Free" is Empty RAM.


RAM in a Standby state can be used at anytime the system needs more memory, just the same as Free memory can be.

Available RAM (or what the system has freely available to it) on the other hand, is taking into account the space used in "Standby" as well as "Free" memory.

Since the DATA in Standy is not active at the moment, it can be dropped instantly if something else needs that RAM space.

This is truly nothing to worry about, It is all functioning quite normally.
Ideal in fact, as the closer to 0 Free Space the better.

Seven is using all the RAM you have to its full potential.


Again, if you go to launch a Game for example, you will have all the memory you need. it will start unloading the oldest --> newest things in Standby Mode to make room.

Then reload them later when theres room.

Hi,

What you see is quite normal, a lot of memory is used to cache information that is used frequently so it's accessed quicker when needed.
But it will be freed up when needed for a program you want to run.

As you can see there is only about 700/800MB actually in use and about 2200MB cached but still stand by/available to use.
