I am trying to help my child sort some folders on her Windows 7 machine, but cannot not figure out the user structure. Perhaps someone here can help.
When logged onto her account on her computer, I go to C: Drive -> Users and find three folders: ABC, ABC_2, and Public. The ABC folder has a full user structure (i.e. Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc.), but when I click on Documents, I get a message saying, "You don't currently have permission to access this folder." The ABC_2 folder also has a full structure, and when I open the Documents folder, I can see all of her documents (homework, letters, etc.), so ABC_2 appears to be the working User folder.
Now when I click on the Start Button, the menu lists ABC (not ABC_2) at the top. When I click on the ABC, it takes me to all of her working folders.
So I am totally confused. Her working folders are referred to as ABC_2 in one place and ABC in another. Is it possible for a User folder to have two different names?
I'd love to clean up her folders and delete one of the user folders. I did notice in her ABC folder (with the restricted access) I was able to get into the Music folder which had some music in it. She may have set up a second user folder when she copied her music from her old machine over the home network.
