I know way more about windows mobile then I do about a pc, and to have this issue switching to w7 from previous xp pro user, it has become a major PIA with every site I visit I get the "congratulations" take this survey for this site add that pops up on random sites. It is killing me and wanting me to rethink this windows 7 thing on my new laptop (hp). How do I kill this? I haven't installed mallware software anything to protect besides norten (just added a pc to the account). Why does this happen, is it a 7 thing?

It's definitely not a Windows Seven thing.

What browser are you using?

Does it occur if using different browsers? ie Firefox, Chrome, Opera etc?

Getting back on topic again...another program you should try is SuperAntiSpyware. That finds more stuff for me than Malwarebytes.

yep, it was malware and spyware. I'm on the road and have a new laptop, super antispyware and anti malware are installed on my other laptop but spaced them out thinking I could find what they were when I got home and checked other pc. I installed malwarebytes and ran a scan, and batt died during scan. It killed my hard drive and had to get new one sent out. HP messed up the delivery address and the hard drive went back on an overnight delivery, and the recovery cd for windows 7 showed up after week and half. called HP twice before I found out what happened to replacement HD and had an other one sent out. After replacing hard drive, and installing 7 again, first thing I did was install super antispyware and malwarebytes and ran scans. Had 43 infections just from start up on new hard drive.

That sounds horrible... Do you have other storage media connected to your computer while you're doing your install? USB flash drive, external HDD, internal backup drive, networked? Sounds like something is migrating to your new partition after install...

I've never experienced any infections during a windows setup from XP forward even if connected to net during install, but something is buggering you up... try this maybe:

have super antispyware and malwarebytes burned to a cd
disconnect all media but the partition you want to install to - USB flash drives, externals, etc
disconnect from any networks
go offline for install
install 7
install antispyware and malwarebytes
run scans on both (if any is discovered there is something bigger going on)
connect online and install MSE (let it update and do its initial scan)
begin your windows update path
now scan media (USB, external, etc) to figure out where your infections were coming from.
