connecting 2 computers to 1 internet stick

Hi i have 2 laptops that i would like to connect to 1 internet stick to browse on the internet at once with both laptops but not thru WiFi (that no one should be able to detect it on any device) if anyone could help me or refer to a tutorial how to do it.

but i'm a little bit confused what i'm supposed to do
should i buy a router and connect the 2 computers together to make a network
or should i just buy a crossover cable and... dont know..
