connecting to live mail

when I have live mail open, it receives email messages... when it is closed, it does not... I am missing emails that are going to my desktop computer but not to the laptop, unless the laptop is on and the email is open... what is not connected right? I need to be a be able to open the email and all of the prior sent ones to download?

Check the box for, leave on server after download. You can probably find this option on the email website.
