I have a system with this config:

C: 120GB Vista 32-bit install (boot drive)
D: 250GB data storage (NTFS, no encryption)

Tomorrow I plan on installing the release version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a new 750GB HD. My new config will be

C: 750GB Win7 64-bit install (boot drive)
D: 250GB data storage (NTFS, no encryption)

All drives are SATA. Will Win 7 be able to find and read the 250GB HD or is there something I need to do/consider....hoping I don't have to find a way to back this sucker up first.

Thanks,
Scott

You shouldn't have any problems. I would first suggest you run the windows 7 upgrade advisor to make sure your system can run 7. Are you going to 64 bit or staying with 32 bit? I would install 7 on the drive you want it on with the other disconnected. To avoid any boot mngr issues. Formatt the disc and away you go.Turn off and unplugg ,then plug in your data drive and reboot. Everything should be fine as long as your hardware is 7 compatible. Win 7 upgrade advisor download. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15 good luck welcome to 7 forum. Fabe One more thing would you please go to your user CP top of page and fill in your system specs? It will help other help you in the future.

Thanks. I ran the advisor. No issues.

I also added my system spec.

I plan on installing Win 7 fresh on the new 750GB HD. I will disconnect the 250GB drive until I am done. After it's installed, I will re-connect the 250GB and hope it comes up as drive D:

Thanks,
Scott

No need to disconnect the HD. It will be well and good after an install.

If you don't want the 100 MB boot partition and would rather your boot files be included on the same partition as the Windows, Program Files and Users folders, format the drive first before installing Windows and create at least one NTFS partition.
