Connection down after intensive downloading, reboot required !

Hello,

I have this problem with my internet connection. I often download via rapidshare links and I even have a premium account. I also use Jdownloader to manage the downloads. (I know the problem does not lie with Jdownloader)

But when I have multiple downloads at top speed my connection suddenly drops. I can still browse the internet (limited) and download via torrent, but not via a browser/download manager. I always limit jdownloader too 1 download, but it still happens.

Disabling and re-enabling the networking hardware does not work. Reconnect does not work. I have tried a lot of things but nothing works.

The only thing that solves the problem is rebooting.

Who know why my internet connection is acting like this ? Is the load too much perhaps ?

It could be your ISP throttling you. Do you have an unlimited internet plan? A lot of ISP's will throttle your speed if you do a lot of downloading and uploading, especially via torrents. You could also need to forward your ports for your torrenting. Not having a port forwarded for your torrent client could cause some major slowdowns in bandwidth. I always limit my torrent client to about 75-80% of my upload speed, because uploading will suck all your bandwidth up. Try limiting your upload speed on your torrents first and if that doesn't help speed up your downloads, then try forwarding a port for your torrent client. Thanks for your reply. I have an unlimited data plan. I also have forwarded my utorrent ports (port 60370)
I dont often seed torrents, so I dont know if the uploading is relevant.

I guess it could be my ISP, but I have never heard that they started doing that here in Holland. I'll look into it.

Check your Event Viewer for an Event ID 1014 for DNS. This seems to be a well known issue with Windows 7 (just google Windows 7 event 1014 to see how many people are having this issue). There are numorous reported "fixes" out there, but I've been hestitant to try any since there's no definite one that stands out as a good solution. If anyone else has any suggestions on a fix please let us know.

I found the event. It says it happened yesterday.

The connection problem didn't occur yesterday....

BTW I googled it and it often occurs with Windows 7 x64, I have x86.

They also mention that resetting the adapter works, but that's not the case in my situation.

I think I also recall having this problem with Windows Vista, but I'm not sure

Have you tried updating the NIC's driver? Or do you have application(s) that manages per application bandwidth like Netlimiter (or anything similar)?

I do not have apps that limit my bandwith and my NIC is up to date
